Preschool Curriculum

2013 IPC Preschool Curriculum

The International Preschool Curriculum® (IPC) sets high standards for early childhood education and provides teachers with a comprehensive framework for curriculum delivery, suggested activities and Assessment.

Thematic Units

Each thematic unit is drafted by one or more qualified and experienced curriculum drafters and reviewed by an advisory committee consisting of early childhood academics, consultants and teachers. Each thematic unit is developed for ages 3-6 years of age. There are currently 21 various themes of topics that intrigue and engage a young child's mind, themes such as Dinosaurs to the Environment.

Teaching and Implementing the IPC Preschool Curriculum

One of the many benefits of the IPC Curriculum is that it is designed for a global audience. The IPC Curriculum is not religious based and can therefore be utilized to teach children of all religions, and can be adapted for use in religious schools. Our curriculum is also designed for open-ended implementation. There are no set rules as to how many hours of the school day should be devoted to this curriculum. The curriculum can be supplemented with crafts and activities of the teacher’s own design, activities from the International Preschool Curriculum Facebook page, and even with field trips.

Activities

Within each IPC thematic unit are a multitude of suggested activities, designed to enforce concepts taught within the IPC’s six content learning areas, while correlating with a particular topic. The IPC organizes these activities by materials needed, learning objectives to be reached and assessed, instructions on how to administer and complete the activity, an assessment statement, and examples, whenever possible.

Learning Aides

The IPC provides several learning aide per unit, from classroom flash cards to student worksheets all color coded and number coded for easy reference, the IPC aims to provide teachers with resources necessary so teachers can focus on teaching not searching or having to create learning aides.

Parent Newsletters

The IPC believes parents are fundamental
in the growth of the young developing mind. Each thematic unit has a parent newsletter
to keep parents up-to-date on their child's education, along with ways to help further their child’s learning through activities
at home.

Assessment

Each Thematic Unit has a corresponding Assessment Guide. Teachers are able to observe and then assess the student’s ability based on the objectives for the activity. Scored from 1-5, teachers can assess students’ level of skill within a content learning area, along with areas to add comments/notes.
